Executive Director, Program Leadership, Oncology
Our client is a biotechnology company. They have asked us to assist them in a search for an
Executive Director, Program Leadership, Oncology.
Major tasks and responsibilities include:
- Works closely with cross-functional leaders to develop comprehensive product development and lifecycle management plans.
- Develops and implements product development and lifecycle management plans.
- Develops vision and strategy for the asset and a plan to achieve potential.
- Identifies and manages critical path activities and resources.
- Identifies and manages interdependencies and hand-offs.
- Identifies and proactively mitigates roadblocks.
- Identifies and documents risks, likelihoods, severities, and key mitigations.
- Leads contingency planning.
- Directs programs through corporate governance to ensure that:
- Projects have adequate resources and technical expertise to meet strategic objectives.
- Issues are raised, discussed, and resolved in a timely manner.
- Project teams receive management decisions in a timely manner.
- Programs adhere to agreed-upon scope, timelines, resources, and budget.
- Is accountable for clear and timely communication about the program throughout the enterprise.
- Works with other team leaders to ensure sub-teams and PST are working in alignment.
- Presents project updates, strategic issues, options, and recommendations to the Portfolio Committee.
- Is responsible for contributing to the development of cross-functional team members. Freely shares expertise and helps identify opportunities for team members to grow as leaders.
- Drives the development of drug candidates into therapeutics that can be filed, approved by regulatory agencies, manufactured, and successfully commercialized.
- Defines the disease area strategy for discovery and early development.
- Drives close alignment among research, development, and commercial groups.
- Effectively communicates concepts to both internal and external stakeholders.
We seek candidates with the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is required. An advanced or professional degree is highly desirable.
- Must have at least ten years of bio-pharmaceutical industry experience with at least eight years of relevant work experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the overall drug development process relevant to biotech/pharmaceutical companies.
- Must have Oncology breast experience and late-stage drug development/commercialization experience.
- Requires strong leadership skills from leading cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with clinical scientists, biologists, and manufacturing experts.
- Must have a high degree of organizational awareness and understanding of change management and leading innovation.
