Chief Medical Officer.
Major tasks and responsibilities include:
- Help shape the corporate strategy for the company’s pursuit of developing novel muscle and related therapies.
- Play a key role in advancing the corporate vision and strategy while executing mission-critical goals in a highly collaborative manner.
- Develop the overarching clinical development blueprint for the company.
- Collaborate effectively with the executive team to advance key drug candidates through all phases of clinical development and commercialization.
- Architect and expand the existing team in support of drug development and commercialization.
- Expand the clinical team to ensure the company’s scientific innovations reach the patients who need them.
- Oversee the analysis and interpretation of clinical trial data and the reporting of clinical trial results.
- Lead interactions with academic thought leaders, investigators, cooperative groups, patient advocacy groups, and other clinical stakeholders.
- Maintain an understanding of clinical and scientific developments in relevant areas by attending key scientific meetings and tracking the literature.
- Represent the company and its programs to external audiences, including the investment, medical, and academic communities, as well as pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry collaborators and partners.
- As a key member of the Executive Team, collaborate with executive leaders to develop the overall company strategy, meet business objectives, and attract, lead, and develop the team.
- Serve as an advocate and champion for patients.
- Drive internal and external collaboration by continuously seeking and implementing innovative solutions.
- Create a collaborative culture that thrives on passion, progress, and results.
- Supporting the CEO & CFO in capital raising, including travel as needed.
We seek candidates with the following qualifications:
- A medical degree is required, with prior experience in neuromuscular diseases or rare neuroscience diseases is strongly preferred.
- Direct leadership/line management of FTEs supporting a clinical-stage pipeline.
- Significant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry advancing novel treatments and filing experience is essential.
- A mix of experience in both small and large companies is highly preferred.
- Proven track record of defining and delivering on innovative R&D strategies that have achieved critical drug development milestones is required.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills are essential, with a proven ability to be an effective team player and leader who can instill credibility and confidence within and outside the company, combined with an outstanding executive presence.
- Must have several years of management experience in leading clinical groups such as clinical development, clinical pharmacology, safety/PV, biometrics, translational medicine, medical affairs, and clinical operations is required.
- Proven track record in trial design and contributions to successful investigational applications (INDs, CTAs) as well as marketing applications (BLAs, NDAs, and MAAs) are necessary.
- Must have strategic awareness in clinical development and must prioritize product development opportunities that align with the business goals of the company.
- Strong communication skills, with a track record of articulating the company’s clinical development and regulatory vision to various audiences, including the CEO, Board of Directors, employees, and the external community, are essential.
- The candidate must be science- and data-driven, with the highest personal values and ethical standards.
- A patient-centric mindset is essential.
- The desire to take a hands-on approach in advancing the portfolio is necessary.
- Champion & lead by example to foster a results-driven environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across all departments.
