Medical Strategist

Our client is a leading healthcare communications firm building leadership brands for pharmaceutical and medical device clients across the globe. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Medical Strategist.

The Medical Strategist directly produces scientific and clinical information output that is relevant, accurate and on-strategy as well as directing the development of clinical and scientific content to meet brand/client needs for both current clients and new business opportunities.  This position has responsibility to build internal understanding of relevant pharmaceuticals, devices and disease states, as well as assessing the current and future competitive environment to ensure building on-strategy platforms for execution.

Responsibilities of the Medical Strategist include:

  • Develops effective relationships with client medical teams and other relevant medical personnel (e.g., consultants)
  • Consults with internal and external teams as appropriate at a strategic and tactical level
  • Proactively challenges strategies and directions not aligned with current medical practice/science; helps identify barriers, positioning, and strategies from a medical/scientific perspective
  • Identifies and accesses appropriate resources as necessary (market research, insights, etc) to develop tactics and strategies
  • Identifies, assimilates, and interprets appropriate medical insights, facts, and data to foster the planning and creative processes for the client and agency team
  • Serves as medical representative on new business pitches
     

Minimum requirements for this position include:

  • Advanced degree required: PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, RN, NP
  • At least 5 years previous experience in the pharmaceutical/medical/science industry
  • Must be able to provide scientific and medical expertise across a broad range of therapeutic categories
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or pharmaceutical marketing desired; neuroscience experience desired
