Director Safety Project Management

Our client is a major global pharmaceutical company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director of Safety Project Management.  The individual chosen for this role will provide leadership and oversight to the Project Management Safety function; will be responsible for the coordination and reporting of key Safety Review Board (SRB) activities related to the safety of all company drugs; will be responsible for leading and developing a broad range of communications specifically related to project and program information for multiple audiences; and will be responsible for providing support to the Global Pharmacovigilance Research and Development Safety Review Board on scheduled or ad hoc meetings, activities or outputs. The Director of Safety Project Management will assure the smooth functioning and transparent communication of all aspects of the primary safety governance board for pharmaceuticals within the company.


We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred: PhD or MD. Minimum 10 years of in Industry experience in Drug Safety or relevant Clinical Development roles
  • Five to seven years of Project management experience required 
  • Broad project management experience with 5-7 years of formal PM experience (including experience with the leadership and management of matrixed cross functional teams including safety or other development related activities as well as other initiatives). 
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills and a broad, big picture pharmaceutical R&D and business orientation and understanding of issues. 
  • Experience that enables the combination of a big picture orientation with attention to detail and perception of needs. 
  • Extensive experience interacting independently with senior management on strategic and confidential issues that have potential business impacts. 
  • Extensive experience working collaboratively across functions. 
  • Prior experience in building and establishing a new group or function. 
  • Anticipating and leading issues identification for the broad organization and follow-up where appropriate.
  • Ability to travel: 0 - 20 %
