Medical Science Liaison - Ophthalmology

Our client is a global multi-specialty pharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Medical Science Liaison – Ophthalmology.     

The chosen candidate will develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support related to eye care initiatives.  He/She will facilitate information, education, and research activities for physicians and ancillary healthcare professionals regarding current and future therapies in development or commercialized by the company. The Medical Science Liaison - Ophthalmology will work closely with other personnel to ensure information, education, and research needs of healthcare professionals are met and to ensure scientific and technical training needs of Clinical Development, Medical Affairs and commercial colleagues are identified and met. The Manager will be responsible for maintaining annual expenses within assigned budget parameters and will be responsible for accurate and timely documentation of above activities. 

Positions are open for the following US territories: South-central (includes TX, FL, GA, NC, & SC) and Northeast (includes NY, NJ, New England, PA, & MD).   

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Pharm.D, M.D., Ph.D, D.O. or other recognized doctorate level education with supporting applicable health science background. *
  • Preferred minimum 3 year total specific industry experience (pharma, device, etc) and minimum 4 years post professional degree practice or relevant transferable experience (clinical practice, academic research, regulatory/scientific).
  • Experience in Eye Care or related disciplines preferred.
  • Scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge and/or experience
  • Strong team, leadership, planning and written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation and teaching skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  •  Ability to learn and convey clinical and non-clinical technical information effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to lead and influence key decision makers
  •  Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
  •  Ability to travel 70-80%

 *Ophthalmologists without previous pharmaceutical industry experience will be given consideration.
